City of Spring Texas

Located 20 miles north of Houston and just south of The Woodlands, Spring Texas is an unincorporated town that spans northern Harris and southern Montgomery counties.  Its locality makes it a popular community for residential and commercial construction.

Known for it's great schools, Spring offers an abundance of places to shop, eat, relax and enjoy life.  Old Town Spring, located on the south side in Harris county is a historic area that provides an adventure in shopping and people watching.  The area offers more than 150 businesses including antique shops, galleries, boutiques, and specialty stores.  Spring is also home to great city parks and Splashtown, a water park that offers fun for the whole family.  Found at the intersection of Kuykendalh and FM 2910 is Spring Town Center.  A shopping center that is growing by leaps and bounds and provides numerous places to shop and eat.

Another reason why Spring is so popular is because of its affordable cost of living rate.  Most residents own their own homes but there are various options for housing in the area.

Retail trade is the largest employer but there is also sciences and technology, manufacturing, and professional services.

If you like festivals, Spring is a great place to go.  The area is home to festivals such as Art and Wine, Texas Crawfish and Music, Classic Cars and of course the Christmas holidays.


 

County of Montgomery Texas

With a 2007 estimated population of over 411,000, Montgomery County is in the top 50 fastest growing counties in the United States. Located north of Houston and Harris County, Conroe Texas has been the county seat since 1888. The county offers an abundance of recreational opportunities, including boating, fishing, hiking and golf. There are also great shopping complexes and restaurants.

The county of Montgomery Texas has deep rooted history. It was the third county formed under the Republic of Texas and named in honor of Brigadier General Richard Montgomery. Later the county was proclaimed as the birthplace of the Lone Star Flag by the Texas Legislature. The economy of the county was primarily agriculture until oil was discovered southeast of Conroe. Early in 1930, the Montgomery County oilfields made it one of the richest oil producing areas in the nation. Oil production in the county has declined but it is still one of the leading sources of income to this day.

In the five county Metroplex area of Houston, Montgomery county ranks in the top 20% of single family home sales. Price per square foot has increased as much as 8% or more in a five year period with the median price per square foot averaging $100+ in 2007.

Some of the major cities located in the County of Montgomery are; Conroe, Magnolia, Montgomery, and The Woodlands.
